Kiss My Crochet Bikini :)

by Sofia S. on March 20, 2010

Every woman wants to feel special and unique, and choosing the bikini which will be the only stylish element that will touch our body at the beach, is not the exception.  A Crochet Bikini is a “must” if you dare to be the lady heads are turning for at the beach this Summer…

If you are a Bikini-fan, you’re definitely missing a lot if you haven’t ever included a Crochet Bikini in your collection.   But you can make your fashion statement even if Crochet is an art you know nothing about.  Summer is coming with a fast childish pace, and dreamy white sand beaches are waiting for us to enjoy swimming and sun-bathing.  Just imagine yourself in a handmade piece of crochet art…

There are a lot of reasons why we tend to replace our old bikinis each year.  One of them is that they lose their elasticity, and that happens because of their fabric’s texture.  A Crochet Bikini, has nothing in common with the ordinary ones made from Lycra.

Apart from its steadier and skin-friendlier cotton texture, a Crochet Bikini is a handmade piece of art which carries by itself the beauty and uniqueness of a real creation.  I surely like to look unique and special with my outfit, even at the beach.

A few years ago, after I had given birth to my daughter, wearing a Crochet Bikini at the beach was a personal bet I had set with myself in order to be motivated and shed the extra weight I had put on during pregnancy.  Since I couldn’t find one ready at the time, and INTERNET didn’t offer the huge variety is does today, I decided to crochet one myself.

Although I’m an experienced crocheter, it took me almost a week to have it finished, because I made a few modifications on the pattern.  But  if I had the option of buying one, I would definitely prefer it.

Besides, you can always add elements of your own stylistic tones, by adding a few beads here, or a tiny decorative detail there.  Some Crochet Bikinis allow you embroidery interventions and the combinations of materials you can use to make your own “stylistic point” are limitless.

But if you ask me, I find the plain white Crochet Bikini a timeless symbol of sexy elegance.
